- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Having spent over £40,000 on two engines one would think the support would be good. At just 251 hours use I had a full service carried out by Powertech at a cost of £1458.28p. 1.5 hours after having the engines serviced one of the engines blew up with a shattered piston. This was replaced under warranty. Then a further 4 hours later a gearbox blew up which had also been serviced by Powertech. Powertech without suggestion jumped to the "It was nothing to do with us" approach. They then became hostile, threatening and abusive. If you are intending to deal with Powertech, my advise would be to consider your involvement with them carefully. Is it worth taking the risk? There are other Evinrude dealers about that use trained Evinrude Technicians and provide excellent customer support. Evinrude in my opinion are great engines, but support and customer service from Powertech mean you are essentially gambling with your money / investment. Is it worth the risk? Despite numerous requests Powertech have failed to provide confirmation that technicians they use on installations and servicing have undergone approved Evinrude training.By stensondk, September 23, 2018
